Alvaro Castro, Dão Tinto 2018

Alvaro Castro is one of the most celebrated wine growers in the Dão region of Portugal. Focusing on fresher, aromatic styles of wine, Alvaro only uses indigenous grape varieties and traditional techniques to create wines full of balance and integrity. Dão Tinto 2018 is made from a blend of organically grown Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Nacional and Jaen (Mencia); taken from vines grown in granite soils and up to 65 years of age. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented separately before they're blended and matured in French oak barrels for 18 months. It's a beautifully vibrant, bright and juicy red. The palate is round and soft, packed full of soft bramble fruits, rosemary and pine wood.
